Graduate Portfolio Projects
Media Entrepreneurship - Business Plan
This course's objectives were to build the skillsets at each major step of creating, owning, and operating my own Digital Media LLC. I created a business plan here for my own Digital Media Business, Just-In: Music News & Facts. I was able to turn an idea of mine into a full model business opportunity that I could see rivaling entertainment industry giants today. This business plan provides a detailed explanation of the structure, rationale, market research, management, strategies, and finances all related to developing my own brand. Media History - PowerPoint Presentation
This presentation demonstrates the continuance of media literacy in my graduate studies. This purpose of this presentation was to combine my interest in music with the role the media played during the Civil Rights Movement. I explored the important roles that some Black musicians played during the peak of the Civil Rights Movement and how their contributions to the entertainment industry made strides for the advancement of Black Americans. Corporate Communications - Patagonia Research Project
During this course, we learned the elements behind a corporate structure, analyzed their business practices and strategies, and reviewed how they were implemented through their communication efforts related to advertising, audiences, and success measurements. The purpose of this group research project was to answer our hypothesis related to how Patagonia's decentralized operational structure enhances their ability to maintain success via their online communities. Due to my personal connection with Patagonia in Atlanta, I took the lead on this assignment and worked in some capacity on each section with each of my teammates. However, the main sections I contributed the most to were: Organizational History and Profile; Research Goals, Objectives, and Methodologies; Literature Review & The Research Process; and The Interview Breakdown. Communication Consulting - IESBVI Communication & Strategic Plan
This course was set up to mirror a real PR/Marketing consulting firm, where I and four of my classmates worked directly with the Iowa Educational Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired to provide strategies and tools to improve their teacher recruitment process. We offered a range of ideas across multiple areas for improvement, as one would in a real consulting firm scenario, before implementing the necessary changes. During this process, I contributed to the Situational and SWOT Analysis, Problem Statement, Communication Strategy Recommendations, and Timeline, while also supporting my team in other areas and allowing them to take the lead on their respective sections.
